Transitional Living
Every client has an individual treatment plan based on their unique needs.  The treatment
plans are developed with the counselor and are updated every 30, 60, and 90 days.  The
treatment plan focuses on attaining individual outcomes.  Treatment is presented in a
continuum of services. The individual treatment plans are based on each client’s current
needs. Progress is based on program participation and length of time in the program at
each level. Services include:
• 
Housing – Transitional housing services for 50 men
Substance Abuse Treatment - All residents must participate in a recovery
program that includes group counseling, community groups, individual
counseling, case management, and community service.
Mental Health Services- On-site psychologist, psychiatric nurse, medication
management, and mental health services.
Medical Assessment & Education – On site health assessment by nurse, health
literacy education groups.
Case Management - Depending on the unique needs of each resident.  Services
include:  employment counseling, independent living skills, recreation
activities, legal advocacy and referrals transportation, spirituality,
financial counseling, family counseling, and referrals to community self
help groups.
To be considered successful, clients must achieve all three Benilde Hall outcomes including:
Residents will maintain abstinent from drugs & alcohol
Residents obtain and remain in permanent housing
Residents will increase work skills and income
In 2008, served 170 men of whom 87 were veterans.  Upon entering the program:
All were homeless and all were abusing drugs and/or alcohol
Sixty-six percent (66%) of clients had a mental illness in addition to addiction issues
Sixty-six percent (66%) entered the program with no source of income and 6% were on disability
The majority (72%) had no health insurance and 17% had Medicaid/Medicare.  
The vast majority (85%) of clients have past or current legal issues.  Twenty-nine percent (29%) were currently on
probation/parole or had pending issues.
